Today’s episode is on a wildly requested topic. It’s probably the most requested episode I've had in a while – today, we're talking about the Incarnation Cross in Human Design.

It's interesting – there’s so much fascination with the Incarnation cross. Everyone wants to know about their Incarnation Cross before they even know anything else about their Human Design.

I was first introduced to it several years prior, but when it came back to my life at the start of the pandemic, a friend and I both had readings. And I remember after our readings, we talked about our designs, and she wanted to know about her Incarnation Cross. I didn’t even know what that was or what she was talking about. I was still trying to process my Type, Strategy, and Authority.

Since becoming a Human Design coach and offering readings, I’ve found this common. I’d estimate that about 90% of the people I’m asked about Human Design and those I’ve done readings for asking me about their Incarnation Cross.

When I first structured my Human Design readings, I didn't cover the Incarnation Cross because, in my opinion, it's important to understand your aura - your Type and Strategy, and your Authority first. After all, they’re foundational to Human Design.

I also covered each of the nine energy centers because the centers are what determine your Type, Strategy and Authority.

But being frequently asked about Incarnation Crosses and Human Design Variables, I decided to restructure how I offer Human Design Readings.

It’s way too much information to cover in one session, so I split the topics into different levels of readings.

Previously, I required all my clients to start with a beginner-level reading, but I don’t want to dictate where one starts with Human Design, so anyone can book any level of reading with me.

However, for those who have had intermediate and advanced level readings before having any other readings beforehand, I can tell they struggle to grasp what’s covered because they haven’t processed a solid understanding of their aura - their Type, Strategy, or Authority. What’s covered in that intermediate or advanced level reading isn’t resonating as much as it could if they had had a beginner reading or had a solid understanding of their Type, Strategy, and Authority first.

I’m not trying to depict where you start your Human Design journey; rather, I want to help you build a solid understanding of the fundamentals so you have a strong foundation so that you can get the most out of your experience with any level that you choose to have.

So, that being said, let's talk about the Incarnation Cross, which I cover in my Intermediate Level reading.

What is the Incarnation Cross?

To put it simply, your Incarnation Cross is your life theme. It’s why you're here and your purpose that you carry with you throughout all facets of your life, whether it be your work, personal life, daily life, or whatever else you do.

It’s also your life theme that spans over the course of your lifetime, not just one period of your life.

So, when you align your life to your Incarnation Cross and follow your life’s theme, you’re fulfilling your purpose of being who you are born to be. You're doing your life's work.

So, how do you find your Incarnation Cross? I’m all about helping people understand how to read their own charts – I’m all about empowerment, and learning how to do things for yourself is empowering.

There are 192 possible combinations of Incarnation Crosses. I'm not going to go into in-depth detail on the mandala and its different quarters and what they represent because I don't think a podcast is the best platform to go into that level. Still, I will tell you how to find your Incarnation Cross on your chart.

So, open your body graph chart, and look at the top four numbers – two from the right and two from the left.

On the right side of your chart, the column of black boxes, you have your conscious Sun at the very top and your conscious Earth right below it. Then, on the left side of your chart, the column of red boxes, you have your unconscious Sun, and below it, your unconscious Earth.

These four numbers make up your Incarnation Cross, and the numbers are from the 64 gates in Human Design.

Now that you've identified your Incarnation Cross, what do you do with it?

First, I’d learn about the four individual gates – what are the gifts of the gates, and what are the shadows? And then, what does the combination of the four numbers together represent?

That’s your life theme. Your purpose.

With 192 possible combinations, there's no way I can cover every single one of them, and there's no way I can cover the 64 Gates. But if you want to learn more about your Incarnation Cross and your life theme, I encourage you to book a reading, and let’s dive into it together.

Like the rest of Human Design, learning and living your life in alignment with your Incarnation Cross is a lifelong journey. But when you are living in alignment with your aura - your Type and Strategy, and when you follow your Authority as you make decisions, it’ll bring you in tune with your Incarnation Cross and raise your awareness of it as well as the other parts of your design.

And really, all there is to it when it comes to the Incarnation Cross.

It's those four numbers at the top of your chart.

It is your life theme.

Look at what each individual gate represents, whether they're your conscious or unconscious Sun and your conscious or unconscious Earth, and then you want to look at what the combination of those four gates means. This is what we cover in an Intermediate level reading with me.

Now, as I’ve done with past episodes on Human Design Fundamentals in the next episode, I'm going to share my Incarnation Cross with you, what the four gates in it are, and then collectively what they mean together – what’s my life theme.

I’ll share how it resonated with me - here's a hint it didn’t, at first, but then as I learned more about it and practiced self-observation with non-judgment, I brought myself into closer alignment with my Projector aura - my Projector Type and my Projector Strategy of Waiting for the Invitation.

As I follow my Splenic Authority, I find I’m raising my awareness of my Incarnation Cross and how it’s been a theme in my life for a long time; I just didn't have an awareness of it. So, come back next week, and I’ll walk you through all of it.

It’s a short episode this week, but I like to keep things direct and simple and get straight to the point.

Thanks for listening, and I'll see you back here again next time.
