"So now that your 30-days of Keto Quick Start are over, what are you going to do now?" ⬅️One of the most frequent questions I'm asked these days.⠀

My body responded well to following the Keto Quick Start plan so I decided to try to reintroduce some old favorites...⠀
.⠀
1️⃣Went to @pressedjuicery with @nobledoula today and had my first freeze in 44 days. It was yummy but honestly? It didn't have the same kind of excitement or flair from before. I think it'll become a once-a-month-ish treat for me. We did try their Turmeric-Almond Juice (Golden Milk) and it was so yummy so I got some of that!).⠀

2️⃣Had my first @chipotle bowl of 2019. I had the fajita veggies, with half chicken + half carnitas, lettuce and a bit of mild salsa.⠀
.⠀
3️⃣Went to the @sjsharks game last night and had the best option available for arena food - a baked potato with green onions and bacon.⠀
.⠀
This is probably the most carbs that I've had in a 24-hour period since my KQS experiment. My body felt a little different.⠀
.⠀
I suppose this is how we learn mindful and intuitive eating - at least it's what helped me. First I had to experiment by eliminating some things and introduce new foods (or eat more of certain foods more often) to be able to truly understand what nourishes me. Then reintroduce what I had eliminated to see how it actually makes me feel.
.
Now that I’ve experimented, I have a different perspective and feel equipped to make more mindful choices that are appropriate for me.

Clarification: these were not made with stevia (I rarely use it). I also grind my own almond butter at Whole Foods so no sneaky ingredients there.)

I used to feel apologetic about being a Beautycounter consultant.
- I didn’t want to bother people
- I couldn’t do sales
- I didn’t have time to make it a priority like other consultants did
- I didn’t know how to mentor a team
- I was afraid of being judged by my friends and family
.
But then I heard @greggrenfrew speak in Palo Alto two years ago and felt a deeper connection to our mission to get safer products into the hands of everyone.
.
Not just Beautycounter products, but safer products period. This is why we advocate for more health-protective laws (looking forward to meeting with you Rep. @jackiespeier!).
.
But still, I struggled to find my voice on how to share this mission and do our work. Then I went to our consultant trainings and leadership conferences. I heard our HQ leaders speak.
.
I heard my team leaders, @katehealthycupboard, @rubiesandradishes and @dianesanfilippo speak. I connected with my Beautycounter BFF’s and realized that the only thing getting in my way was me. And now everyday I ask myself, “Am I being coachable today?”
.
Lately in my stories, I’ve been sharing excerpts from my morning routine which currently involves lessons from @gabbybernstein as I work through her book, “May Cause Miracles.” Daily personal development and mindset work is how I’m learning to get out of my own way and find the confidence that’s already in me.
.
A favorite line from my favorite show is, “Courage is simply finding a way to overcome your fear. Find the courage.” (Uhtred to Baby Monk for those who know 😉).
.
Our business is relational and best shared person-to-person. I’m deeply convicted about it and now I share it, unapologetically.
.

1️⃣ This might be the last time I try precut zoodles. They may be more convenient but IMO, they just don't cook as well.⠀

Attempted to make the Shrimp Pad Thai, but the zoodles weren't as fresh and I just didn't have enough as I thought I'd needed, which meant I used too much sauce. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Oh well, it was still yummy!⠀

3️⃣ The Cocoa BBQ is 🔥🔥🔥 and quite possibly the easiest dish I've ever made!⠀

I’ve been working from home for the past seven years and for most of that time, the best I manage to do is put on a pair of yoga pants, a sports bra and a workout top.
.
This year I have tried to put more effort into looking more polished because then I feel better about myself which leads to being more productive.
.
I’m styling and blow drying my hair at night (I even got new hairbrushes in January!) and while I don’t always put on a full face of makeup, I do try to use our Flawless in Five collection at least a couple of times a week.

Keto Quick Start - Day 3️⃣0️⃣:⠀

With my new group coaching program kicking off its been a busy week and I kinda dropped the ball on sharing the last few days of my Keto Quick Start experience.⠀
.⠀
Here’s a few photos of some of the things I ate at the very end of the meal plan (all things I’ve made before):⠀
- Salted Almond Butter Bites⠀
- Lemon Blueberry Muffins⠀
- Umami Steak on field greens and arugula with pepitas and sunflower seeds⠀
- A hodpodge of sautéed shrimp and kale on field greens with sunflower seeds (I desperately needed groceries)⠀

I’ll save the details of my takeaways for next week’s podcast episode but here’s my takeaways:⠀
- For someone who wasn’t digesting fats very well two years ago, its a testament that supporting your gut health can change what foods you’re able to tolerate. I did much better than I expected to.⠀
- I felt energy over the past month that I haven’t felt in the past ten years.⠀
- I ended up dropping a total of seven lbs which is pretty phenomemal for 30 days given how much resistance my body was in over the past two years.⠀

Will I continue? Absolutely, but not dogmatically.⠀
.⠀

For most of my life I had super, super oily skin. The thought of putting on any cream or moisturizing products made me shudder.⠀
.⠀
But then I cleaned up my diet, cutting out sugar, gluten and dairy, worked on supporting my gut health and suddenly I found myself with a completely different complexion!
.
To be honest, I’m still trying to figure out how to support it. It’s still all new to me!⠀
.⠀
Imagine my surprise when @gennybbeauty told me that I now have DRY and sensitive skin from the season.
.
I was using our entire Rejuvenating line. It’s our advanced anti-aging that has the most active ingredients but we suspected it wasn’t best for the dryness and sensitivity. I‘d been having a little more redness than normal and tiny bumps that weren’t zits, but I didn’t know what they were. Turns out, I needed MORE moisture (this still blows my mind).

So I made a few minor tweaks to my morning skincare routine:
.
- Switched to the Countermatch Cleansing Milk which is a much gentler cleanser that doesn’t lather (apply dry, then rinse with cold water)⠀
- Still using the Rejuvenating serum; I never understood why I needed a serum before but now I can’t imagine not using it. ⠀
- Using the Rejuvenating Night Cream in the morning and mid-day (!!!)⠀
- Sealing it with the No. 3 Balancing Oil⠀
.⠀
A couple of other tweaks:
.
Using my Norwex cloth (I had them just wasn’t using them) and adjusting the timing of everything!
.
I had been waiting for every layer to completely dry before applying the next layer. Now I apply the next layer when it feels tacky.
.
Pressing the product directly onto my skin instead of just rubbing it on.
.
It’s only been 10 days but its made so much of a difference!⠀
